Team news.

When: Australia v India, 1st Test, December 6 to 10, 10.30 am Local, 05:30 IST (Dec 6)

Where: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

It's not every day that you'll struggle to identify each member of an Australian Test batting line-up on the eve of a match. But such has been the in-flow of new faces into the home team's middle-order that you'll need to keep the Cricbuzz app handy to really be sure of who's who. Debutant Marcus Harris has been likened by many to coach Justin Langer and has been a consistent run-scorer for Victoria in recent times. Aaron Finch looks almost unrecognizable in whites, while Travis Head is still only getting over the reputation of being one of those Aussies who always makes the cut in IPL auctions. The big news from the Australian camp was the ouster of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and the call-up for Peter Handscomb as the specialist No.

India: With India now having begun to announce their probable 12 before the Test, there isn't much room for speculation. The bowling line-up is settled with Ishant Sharma, Shami and Bumrah manning the fast-bowling duties with Ashwin the lone spinner. It also means a rare occasion where India will go into a Test away from home under Kohli with only four specialist bowlers - though Murali Vijay seemed rather handy with his off-spin, even beating the Indian captain with his drift and flight on two consecutive deliveries. With no fifth bowler - and their only all-rounder still recuperating back home - the No. 6 slot is up for grabs with Rohit Sharma and Hanuma Vihari in the running for it.
